Nice to Venice

Sunday 15th June 2014

Blog post by Miss 7

Today we got up quite early and went on the shuttle to the airport.  We checked in our bags and then we had breakfast.  I had a pain au chocolat and a hot chocolate.  We had to wait for a while for our plane so we watcbed a programme like French Top Gear on TV.

On the plane we got a really good view of Nice and then when we got close to Italy we could see Venice really clearly.  When we arrived in Italy we had to walk from the airport down to the dock to catch the Alilaguna to Venice.  We had a Panini for lunch while we waited for the boat.  There was one man who didn't want to go on the boat because he felt seasick.  If you don't like boats it can be a problem in Venice!
It was really fun on the Alilaguna.  Sometimes the water splashed up on the windows.  We could see Venice getting closer and closer. We got off the boat at the Rialto Bridge and met Agatha who showed us the way to the apartment.
Our apartment is on the third floor and you have to go up 51 steps. This is Mum and Dad's room.
This is the fold out couch where Miss 9 and I sleep and the dining room.

This is where the boys sleep up in the attic.
This is our kitchen.
This is the view from the window in the lounge.

And so is this.
This bridge is right by the door to our apartment building in the Campo di Beccarie.
There is a little shrine on the wall beside the door.
Once we got settled into the apartment we went for a walk and got our first gelato in Italy.  I had cioccolata which is chocolate in Italian.
There are thousands of mask shops in Venice. This is a really beautiful shop and you can watch them making the masks.  They make the masks for Mardi Gras.
We went to a pizza restaurant called Anfora that Agatha recommended.  The pizzas were really huge and had really thin crusts.  I had huge olives, ham, mozzarella and tomato on my pizza.  We got to eat breadsticks while we waited for our dinner.
I really like Venice so far!
