Musee Rodin

Friday 6th June 2014

Blog post by the mother

Today we visited one of my favourite museums in Paris, the Musee Rodin.  It was an absolutely gorgeous day - warm with blue skies - and the gardens of the museum are looking fabulous.  We had a lovely ramble through the gardens smelling the roses and enjoying the sculptures and the views through to Les Invalides.
Predictable though it is, my favourite sculpture is 'Le Penseur' or 'The Thinker'.

There was plenty for the kids to do and being out in the garden is a much more liberating way to enjoy sculpture than inside a museum.

After being able to take photos outside in the garden I must confess that I forgot that I shouldn't take photos inside the museum.  Ooops!  Here is a photo of Rodin's 'Kiss' because I would hate for my illicit photo to go to waste.
We walked to the end of the gardens and then stopped for a welcome break in the shade and a wee snack before heading off to the markets at Rue Mouffetard.

We found another 'Thinker' in the Metro so had to take the blatantly obvious photo op'.
By the time we got to Rue Mouffetard it was lunchtime and very hot. Most of the market stalls had closed for the day but we enjoyed walking down the cobbled streets and looking at all the shops.  We stopped for our usual lunch of a baguette 'sandwich' which we ate in a little park at the bottom of Rue Mouffetard.

Home for our final dinner in Paris at the apartment, washing and packing before we head off for our week in Provence tomorrow.
